We designed a new bar, the Monterrey Bar, with historic classic cocktail bars in mind. We wanted it to be an opulent backdrop for Miami nightlife, the kind of place that celebrates the craft of mixology, like the old Martini Bar at the Raleigh where Crispy would hold court. The bar is a T shape projecting out into the room like a stage or a catwalk, creating a dramatic focal point and a place to gather around. The materials we used have a richness to them: there’s a plush swirling carpet, Italian crafted Murano glass chandelier, rich Afromosia wall panelling and an entrancing Amazonite stone. To add a playful touch, we sourced a series of 1980s ‘Frozen Moments’ by the artist Geoffrey Rose as a pop art moment.
