After completing work on the Chateau in 1996, SHD was approached by Sean MacPherson to design Bar Marmont.  The tangled exoticism of the interiors was inspired by a scene in an adaptation of Heart of Darkness.  Andre Balazs took over the bar in 2006 for which SHD again updated the space.
